چکیده

the objective of the present field experiment was to examine how plant density and enhanced source, i.e. thinning treatments, may affect grain yield and its components for a non-prolific maize hybrid, sc704. the environment of the hybrid maize crop was changed at intervals over its life cycle by removing every other plant in rows equispaced at 75 cm apart with a population of 13.34 plants m-2. the plants were grown with no water or nutrient restrictions. results showed that earlier thinning was associated with greater stem, leaf, shoot and ear dry weight accumulation, ear kernel weight (ekw) and kernel number per ear row (kner). in this ways the greatest of these characteristics were obtained in thinning at sowing i.e. 6.67 plants m-2 throughout. delay in thinning until the 12-leaf stage reduced stem dry weight and ekw significantly. thinning at tasseling also resulted in significantly lower stem dry weight accumulation compared to thinning at sowing. at final harvest, the stem dry weight of plants thinned at tasseling was 20.47% (p

Photoperiod and growing degree days effect on dry matter partitioning in Jerusalem artichoke

The effect of photoperiod and growing degree days (GDD) on dry matter and dry matter partitioning in Jerusalem artichoke was investigated during 2008-09 and 2009-10. Three Jerusalem artichoke genotypes (CN-52867, JA-89 and HEL-65) were planted in 15 day-intervals between with thirteen different dates (September 20 to March 20) atKhon Kaen University,Thailand. Jerusalem artichoke genotypes ...

Aspects of Dry Matter Partitioning in Sugarcane

Partitioning of dry matter (DM) in sugarcane is of interest for two fundamental reasons. Firstly sugar production depends directly on partitioning of biomass to the stalk and then to sucrose stored in the stalk. Secondly, various DM components of the stalk and particularly sucrose concentration are used to calculate the value of cane consignments delivered to the mill (Berding, 1997). The value...

Olive fruit dry matter and oil accumulation in warm environmental conditions

The present study was carried out during 2007, 2008 and 2009 on 6 olive cultivars to investigate the process of oil and dry matter accumulation in response to warm and dry conditions in Dallaho Olive Research Station of SarpoleZehab, Kermanshah province, Iran. Results showed that oil begins to accumulate in the fruit from July, increases gradually through August and reaches its maximum as the f...

Simulation of dry matter accumulation, partitioning and yield prediction in processing tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

Simulation of dry matter accumulation and the distribution of crop growth is an important means of predicting yield. In this study, a variety of cultivars of the processing tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.), sowing dates and densities were tested. By analyzing the quantitative relationships between growth and physiological development time (PDT) based on a knowledge model, dry matter parti...

investigating the effect of inter- and intra-row spacing on dry matter accumulation and partitioning in faba bean

this study was conducted to evaluatethe effects of different inter- and intra-row spacing on the dry matter accumulation and partitioning coefficients in faba bean, barakat cultivar. experiment was conducted as factorial in a randomized complete block design with three replications. factors were inter-row spacing (15, 30, 45 and 60 cm) and intra-row spacing (5, 10 and 15 cm). the plant dry matt...

Effects on Dry Matter Accumulation and Nitrogen

The interaction between the ATP-dependent evolution of H2 catalyzed by nitrogenase and the oxidation of H2 via a hydrogenase has been postulated to influence the efficiency of the N2-fixing process in nodulated legumes. A comparative study using soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) cv. Anoka inoculated with either Rhizobium japonicum strain USDA 31 or USDA 110 and cowpea (Vigna uguiculats L. Walp.) c...
